Why SiteGrinder Beats DreamWeaver Hands Down
Welcome to my website where you’ll find lots of information about one of my all-time favorite tools. It’s called SiteGrinder, and it has saved me countless hours and endless frustration during the past two years. As you look around here, I hope you’ll learn some valuable tips for using this great web design tool and discover why I consider it such an important part of my business success.
Live and Learn
I’d like to start by telling you a little bit about myself. I figure if you understand where I’m coming from, you’ll be more likely to take me at my word rather than dismiss what I have to say as hype. I’ve been intrigued by the concept of Internet marketing for a long time now, and I started out in the business like most people do…one small step at a time.
For years I worked as a carpet cleaner all day and then spent most of my free time and all my extra money trying to develop websites that would bring me some business. Over the last four to five years, I’ve learned a lot of lessons, and made some big mistakes. I’ve used some great software programs and I’ve been stung by some that weren’t worth the time it took to read their installation guide. I’ve seen scams and hype, and have learned how to latch on to a good product when I find one and use it to the fullest.
Now, about four years after I started, I am the owner of many successful websites, and can call myself a full time online marketer, search engine optimizer, and web designer. I’m ready to share some of the things I’ve learned with those of you who are in the position I was in a few years back. One of the best business decisions I’ve made is to purchase a dynamite tool from Media Lab called Sitegrinder.
When I first started out creating my websites, I tried the big name programs like DreamWeaver, FrontPage, XSite Pro, and several others. I don’t mind telling you that they were the cause of a lot of the frustration and expense that plagued me for a while. All those programs have their place, and all of them claim to be WYSIWYG tools. “What You See Is What You Get” might be a nice slogan, but in my opinion it is really not accurate. I did not “get” what I was “seeing” in many cases, and I went through lots of struggles when I first began designing my sites. Happily, SiteGrinder has provided solutions for most of the problems I faced.
A Versatile, Highly-Functional Tool
One of the best characteristics of SiteGrinder is that it lets me use Photoshop for building my websites. This is something that most professional web designers have done for years because of the huge variety of options it provides. Most Internet-savvy folks have been exposed to PS at some point, and they find its user interface intuitive and simple. Before SiteGrinder, though, designers could put together a perfect site using Photoshop, and then they had to go through the misery of adapting their awesome design for the web. This used to involve slicing up the PS file and coding all the tables and CSS so that everything fit together properly and did not look disjointed and choppy.
SiteGrinder handles that entire process for you. You can create your design in Photoshop, label its different layers with some “hints” so that SG knows how you want them to behave, and then click the Build button. It is so much easier than trying to squeeze your beautiful design into a coder’s little box. And the results are fantastic!
No Coding Skills Necessary
The trouble I had when I tried to use those big name web design programs was that all of them relied partially on their users being familiar with HTML coding. That’s the language that computer programmers use to get their software products to do what they are supposed to do, and it can take years to become fluent in it. Even though FrontPage and the other design tools claimed to make it easy for beginners to build a website, they still assumed that their customers would have a basic knowledge of hard coding. Well, that’s just not me, and I think lots of other people out there are in the same boat.
Once I discovered SiteGrinder, most of my web-building troubles vanished. That’s because it does not require you or me or any user to understand coding languages at all. Instead, you use Photoshop to create a design, tell SiteGrinder to make it ready for the web, and that’s all there is to it. The cool graphics, brilliant colors, logos, images, borders, shadings, and backgrounds that you love to play with in Photoshop all transfer to your web design flawlessly. It’s really incredible, and I can’t even tell you how much time it has saved for me.
No Problems With Browser Compatibility
Another drawback with using DreamWeaver or its companions is that the design you worked so hard to build might look and perform perfectly if a potential customer used Internet Explorer. But what if some of your visitors arrived at your site via Firefox, or Opera, or Safari, or some lesser-known web browser? Chances are pretty good that your site would look funky, or load slowly, or even freeze up when accessed. None of those things are good for an online business.
Before I found SiteGrinder I used to spend hours testing my sites with all kinds of different browsers just hoping to find any problems before I went live. Sometimes that strategy worked, and sometimes it didn’t, but it was always a major pain and a huge time waster. With SG, I don’t have to worry. Everything that I build into my Photoshop design will be transferred to a working web page with 100% accuracy, and it will work on every visitor’s system. That is so great, I still can’t get over it sometimes.

I make it a personal practice never to recommend any product that I don’t find useful in my own business life. I’ve seen enough scammers and swindlers to last me a lifetime, and I truly want to help newcomers avoid them. SiteGrinder is something that I’m happy to promote because it delivers on its promises. See for yourself.
